There's nothing quite like cold butter on warm, fresh bread, is there? Store butter (and help keep it cool) in this pretty stoneware butter dish. Elegant and functional, it will help keep butter fresh from the fridge to the table.
With a sure-grip handle, and wide lipped base, you can melt, serve, and store butter in this gorgeous dish. The enamelled scratch-resistant surface will not absorb odours, stains, or flavours from the fridge, making it totally hygienic.

Beautiful but read the small print

I love this butter dish but it is described as large which I would assume would take a 500g piece of butter. Luckily I did read the small print so realized it was in fact a small butterdish only taking 250g butter.

I thought it was bigger...

Look, I know that size isn't supposed to matter but I really thought my butter dish was going to be bigger. The description does say "Large Butter Dish" after all, and I was expecting something big enough to take a 500g butter but, alas, no.
However, apart from that "small" hitch it is a beautiful piece of crockery and I do love it!
It is difficult to perceive size on an internet picture so perhaps it would be helpful (certainly to myself and maybe for others as well) to include something in the picture as a point of reference so one could see just how big the item is that one is looking at? I was tempted to say a box of matches but that seems so 'de rigeur':-)

The fiery cherry red of the dish fits in well with everything and just looks awesome sitting on the counter!

Large butter dish not so large

Considering its a large butter dish I would have expected it to take a 500g butter brick but unfortunately only half that, at least I was given the opportunity to change the item, but still doesn't help the situation. Will have to make do.

A beautiful, quality butter dish.
Some butter bricks may need to be halved as the height doesn't accommodate all brands of butter. It's not a problem for me.

I've been looking for a butter dish for a while, and this is the perfect dish. The pop of yellow adds colour to my counter and the fact that it's dishwasher and microwave proof is an added bonus! It's a great size - not too big, not too small.

I love the aesthetic of the Le Creuset butter dish. There is just one slightly annoying aspect of the dish. The 500g wax-wrapped butter does not fit in the dish. I have had to slice it in half to make it fit.

There seem to be a lot of people complaining about the size of this dish. Firstly, Yuppichef stipulates the capacity as 220 - 250g of butter, so it's not deceptive, and secondly, it wouldn't be a good idea putting 500g of butter out at a time anyway - it'll go rancid... I cut my 500g butter one third at a time and it works a treat.

A standard block of butter does not fit in this butter dish. I had to cut the block of butter smaller so that the lid could fit. I thought this should be a standard size.

While this item looks stunning on the dinner table, and as always Le Creuset delivers with quality, I do wish it was larger so I would be able to fit a full 500g block of butter on it.

I absolutely love Le Creuset but this butter dish doesn't fit a brick of butter - it has to be halved, so in a way not very practical.

Great addition to my every growing Le Creuset collection. A block of Lurpak fits perfectly, however, a standard block of butter is a little too tall for this dish.

We stay on a farm and we make our own butter. To have this displayed in our kitchen keeps the butter nice and soft, ready to use, as well as look pretty and stylish! I would buy another one today!

Beautiful product - as it's only a 250g size it's easy just to cut the 500g in half and use it this way - seen some upset reviews before buying but that didn't stop me from buying, glad I did.
