Product Info

The tagine originates in North Africa where the same design has been in use for centuries to cook meats, poultry, vegetables, fruits and spices. It is to be used very slowly on the hob so that the finished dish is full of succulence and flavour.

  • The base cooking dish is made from cast iron with a flat bottom. It can be used on most heat sources, or on its own as a baking dish in the oven
  • The tight-fitting lid, in earthenware, retains the moisture and heat inside over a long cooking time. Steam is re-condensed into water droplets on its cool walls and falls back into the ingredients keeping it moist
  • The ultra-smooth base is suitable for gas, electric, ceramic, halogen, and induction
  • The 27cm size portion size suits 4 to 6 people
  • It has a rim edge so you can lift the tagine dish easily
  • Oven, grill, freezer and dishwasher safe
  • Lifetime guarantee on base

It's all you need for:

Simmering traditional North African dishes with meat, poultry, vegetables, fish and desserts.

Baking quiches, pies, tarts and cakes in the base of the tagine.

The combination of meats (lamb, beef, chicken), sweet vegetables (carrots, tomatoes, aubergines) and fruits (lemon, dates, oranges) is very typical of North African cookery and provides a natural sweetness to many dishes. The sweetness is offset by the use of plenty of spices and cayenne pepper.

How did I ever cook stews without my Tagine?!

Would have loved the bigger one, but I'll blame popularity for not being in stock!

Easy to clean, easy to use! Meat comes out tender, juicy, and the flavours are incredible!

Some advise... Do keep very low heat, as it simmers for quite some time, so food WILL be properly cooked. It produces its own moist and juice from your ingredients, so if not watched carefully ( Read more

This, like all Le Creuset products, is great. It is meant to be used to cook slowly - the results are great - succulent and juicy! the previous reviewer says cannot be used on a fire - I beg to differ - the base is made of cast iron. The top can withstand high oven temperatures. Unless you want to use the lid as the base in a fire, I am sure you will be OK. remember - cook slowly and this may even Read more

Worth every penny!

Review by Tandy S. on 7 August 2013

I have had a lot of people asking me whether getting a tagine is worth it, and all I can say is YES! You have to be prepared to spend money on ensuring that the one you get can be used on the stove top as well as in the oven. This way you will know you are getting the best value for money. I decided to purchase a Le Creuset Tagine for the quality of the product and I have not looked back.

27cm Tagine

What a brilliant cooker. It will replace so many other pieces of Le Creuset cooking equipment I have. Holds its moisture so one can go shopping in confidence while it cooks to succulent perfection. I'll use it for all casseroles in future; not just Tagines.

Very disappointed unable to use like a Tagine is traditionally used in Morocco on a natural fire.
